Rediscover your days of youthful travelling with our wonderful bus tour of the prime parts of Turkey and experience the real atmosphere and magic of this ancient country. The tour takes in the mythical and bustling old centre of Istanbul, the sombre and magnificent Gallipoli battlefields and finishes off following the route from the City of Troy to the expensive site of the city of Ephasus. Accommodation is included in 4-star hotels throughout the tour, and you do not have to worry about being on an old bus from the 60s, as the tour uses a spacious, fully air-conditioned coach!

 

 

6-Days Anatolia tour itinerary

 

Day 1 - Istanbul

You will be met by our representative at Istanbul airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free time for you to explore the magic of this city. If you have the time, visit the Topkapı Palace and shop until you drop in the Brand Bazaar!

Day 2 - Istanbul City Tour

(Breakfast included)

We depart after breakfast for the city tour. You will start at the ancient Hippodrome, which was the scene of chariot races and is the home to three monuments: the Obelisk of Theodosius, the bronze Serpentine Column and the Column of Constantine. We will then continue to the Sultan Ahmet Mosque. Commonly known as the Blue Mosque, this is the most important place of worship in Istanbul and the name derives from its stunning interior, decorated with over 20,000 hand-made and decorated blue tiles. From there, we travel to our last stop, the Hagia Sophia Museum. This ancient basilica, dating back to Constantine the Great, is one of the architectural marvels of all time. After the tour, there is the option of add a Bosphorus cruise at extra cost if you wish. The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy.

Day 3 – The Gallipoli Battlefields

(Breakfast and lunch included)

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to join the group and depart for Canakkale. We arrive in Eceabat at noon and begin the fully guided Gallipoli tour, visiting the Kabatepe Museum, ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston 's Jolly, The Nek and Chunuk Bair New Zealand memorial. During the tour, there will be a lunch break. Late in the afternoon we will arrive in Canakkale.

Overnight in Canakkale.

 

Day 4 - Helen of Troy

(Breakfast included)

After breakfast we depart for the ancient city of Troy. Your guide will explain the mythology surrounding Troy, the Trojan Horse and Helen of Troy, as well as the history and discoveries of the archaeological digs from its discovery in the 19th century, to the present day. Nine cities have been discovered built one on top of the other dating back to 3500 BC. The site is extensive and parts of the legendary walls of Troy can be seen in all their glory and scale. After Troy, we will depart for Kusadasi, arriving late in the evening.

Day 5 - Ephesus

(Breakfast and lunch included)

After breakfast, we depart early for your fully guided Ephesus tour. This monumental city is one of the best preserved ancient ruins in the world and a visit to Ephesus - once the commercial centre of the ancient world - is a highlight of any holiday to Turkey. The city, whose wealth and patronage supported its splendid architectural programme, was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. Her enormous temple, one of the seven wonders of the world and rebuilt several times, dates in its latest form from the third century BC. The tour of the ruins also includes the amphitheatre, gymnasium, agora and baths, as well as the Library of Celsus.

Overnight in Kusadasi.

 

Day 6 - Kusadasi - Istanbul

(Breakfast included)

After check out, you have the rest of the day free to explore Kusadasi. Relax at the hotel or go shopping in the town. This evening we have an overnight trip to Istanbul by bus. This is a relatively long journey and if you wish, you have the option (at cost price) for us to book you a domestic flight and transfers, and overnight accommodation in Istanbul.

 

Day 7 – Istanbul to UK

If you booked a domestic flight, then breakfast and airport transfers will be provided. If you chose the bus travel, then you will arrive at Istanbul Airport direct for your return flight.

When you are planning your tour and looking at departure dates, please bear in mind that in Istanbul the Hagia Sophia museum is closed on Mondays, the Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays and the Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays.
